Call for Proposals for the Fall 2023 Talking/Teaching series

What is the Talking/Teaching weekly series? One hour, facilitator-led online conversations about a topic in teaching philosophy. No advance preparation or reservation required.

What does the facilitator do? Facilitators give a brief introduction to a pedagogical concept or topic related to teaching that is chosen in advance. The facilitator does not give a long presentation or just host a Q and A. Rather, the facilitator spends 5-10 minutes providing a concise summary of their thinking on the topic they have chosen, and enough context and good questions to start and sustain a conversation.

Who can apply and when? Anyone with experience teaching philosophy and some experience facilitating conversations. Proposals for fall accepted on a rolling basis until the weeks are filled.

Know someone who would facilitate a great discussion? Nominate them! If you know someone (even if they are not a philosopher or member of the AAPT), you can use the link below to nominate them, and we will reach out to them to see if they would be interested.

How to apply or make a nomination: Please fill out the form here: https://forms.gle/W2WTSHbJ94DPu88y7. If you have any questions, please email Kimberly Van Orman: talkingteaching@philosophyteachers.org
