Dear all--

I'm emailing in my AAPT communications role with happy news, along with our
current workshop-conference and AAPT Studies CFPs.

1. Earlier today, the APA announced that Kristopher Phillips (Eastern
Michigan University) and Rebecca Scott (Harper College) have won the
APA/AAPT/Teaching Philosophy Association 2023 Prize for Excellence in
Philosophy Teaching.

Read about their outstanding work
here: https://www.apaonline.org/page/2023prizes-f#teaching

More information about the prize itself, including a list of past winners,
is available on the APA website:

Congratulations Dr. Phillips and Dr. Scott!

2. The Call for Proposals for the 2024 Workshop-Conference is available:
https://philosophyteachers.org/cfp-2024-conference
Submissions are open through January 8, 2024. A .pdf of the CFP poster is
attached to this email.

3. The workshop-conference will feature, among other sessions, a panel on
"Amplifying Philosophy in the Face of Existential Threats."

Proposals to be part of this panel are welcome, though will go through a
different review process than the general call. Details:
https://philosophyteachers.org/call-for-panelists-amplifying-philosophy-in-the-face-of-existential-threats/

4. The next issue of AAPT Studies in Pedagogy is themed around "Teaching
in Hostile Contexts." The call for papers is open through February 15,
2024:

As teachers, we know that our working conditions are our students' learning
conditions. So for the sake of rest's intrinsics goods and also to help
your students next semester, I hope you are able to take a break over the
semester break. And be on the lookout for some exciting AAPT announcements
in early 2024!
Best regards,
-Karl Aho
