Teaching Hub Returning to the Pacific Division APA

 

AAPT-APA Teaching Hub @ 2021 Pacific APA
April 7-9, 2021

The 2021 Pacific Division meeting will feature the popular Teaching Hub, a three-day series of workshops and sessions that address the teaching of philosophy at all levels. The Teaching Hub, sponsored by the American Association of Philosophy Teachers and the American Philosophical Association. The Teaching Hub will run from Wednesday, April 7 through Friday, April 9, 2021. Pacific Division meeting registrants are invited to attend any or all of the sessions.

The Teaching Hub is a series of interactive workshops and open conversations designed specifically for philosophers and created to celebrate teaching within the context of the APA divisional meetings. Jointly organized by the American Association of Philosophy Teachers (AAPT) and the APA Committee on the Teaching of Philosophy (CTP), the Teaching Hub aims to offer a range of high-quality and inclusive development opportunities that address the teaching of philosophy at all levels, pre-college through graduate school.

The 2021 Pacific Meeting Teaching Hub will include the following sessions:

  • Improving Teaching Philosophy Online
  • Addressing Resistance and Alternative Facts: Classroom Activities and Assignments
  • Overcoming Challenges of Teaching Philosophy of Race, Gender, and/or Identity
  • Workshops on Teaching Philosophy
  • Metaphilosophy for Undergraduates & Top Five Thoughts on Teaching Philosophy
  • Engaging Young People in Ethics
  • Teaching Positions at Two-Year Colleges & Teaching Demonstrations
  • Undergraduate Research and Faculty SoTL Poster Session
