Talking/Teaching October 9th, 2023
Our free online pedagogy discussion hour, Talking/Teaching, returns Monday, October 9th at 3:00 pm (eastern time). Jerry Green, of the University of Central Oklahoma, will present “Know Thyself: Learner Self-Assessments as an Introduction to Philosophy.”
“This session shares resources for a learner self-assessment activity I use as the first assignment in my Intro to Philosophy classes. Students take six short evaluations on things topics like study strategies, learning preferences, and intellectual virtues. Discussion will focus on the how’s and why’s of using this kind of assignment, and on student reactions to it.”
