Shuttle Information-REVISED

Times updated/revised July 25.

First, a disclaimer: This shuttle is not a professional service, and although we’ve done our very best to plan reasonable pickup times and build in room for hiccups like traffic and plane delays, this arrangement is ad hoc and we ask for your patience and flexibility.

Getting from MSP to campus:

  • Pickup times at MSP on Wednesday are 1:15, 2:30, 5:00, 6:30 and 9:45 p.m. All times are approximate, and the time listed is the earliest the shuttle will leave. (We don’t anticipate the 9:45 one having any problems, barring severe weather.)
  • The shuttle will pick up outside Door 6 on the baggage claim level of Terminal 1 (Lindbergh). This is the regular passenger pickup area–as if your friends were driving in to pick you up.
    • If you are arriving on AirTran, Southwest, Spirit or Sun Country, you will land at Terminal 2 (Humphrey). You’ll need to catch the light rail or inter-terminal shuttle to Terminal 1.
    • The driver will not be able to leave the vehicle to come in to gather people, so you’ll need to be on the lookout.
  • The vehicle you’re looking for is a 14-passenger van, white with a St. John’s/St. Ben’s logo on it (black and red).
  • The 14 passengers includes the driver, so we can pick up 13 people at a time. The driver won’t have a list of who’s expected (we figure there’s no point because planes can get delayed), so it’s going to be first-come, first-served, and on the honor system that you signed up in advance. You should also be prepared to wait some time for the next shuttle.
  • Please be kind to the drivers. They are not responsible for the planning of this shuttle, and they have graciously agreed to give their time to provide affordable transportation.
  • The 12, 2, and 4 p.m. shuttles should have no trouble making it to SJU in time for supper. The 5:45 and 9:45 shuttles won’t, so we suggest finding dinner at the airport. A list of airport shops and restaurants is available from the MSP home page. The restaurant and food selection is much smaller once you’ve left security, but there is some.
  • If for some reason (such as major flight delays) you miss all shuttles, call Executive Express888-522-9899. Their latest regularly scheduled shuttle leaves MSP at 11:30 p.m. On last-minute calls, they apparently won’t take you farther than the Holiday Inn in St. Cloud, but if you spend the night there, contact Erica Stonestreet or Laura Schmitz (320-363-3030) and we’ll make sure someone can come and pick you up in the morning.

For the return trip on Sunday:

  • We anticipate four shuttles: 7:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
  • You will want to catch a shuttle that leaves at least three hours before your flight. (This should get you to the airport 1.5 hours before your flight.)
  • Priority for outgoing shuttles is for people who have earlier flights; there may not be space for people who want to leave on a shuttle that’s considerably earlier than necessary for your flight.
  • If your outgoing plans change (e.g. you catch a ride with someone who rented a car), please notify us at the conference registration desk in Quad 360, as this may affect how many shuttles we need.
  • Those attending seminars but needing the 12:30 shuttle will need to hustle to grab some lunch before you leave (or plan to wait until you get to the airport).
