The Lenssen Prize Committee seeks nominations of published essays for consideration for the Lenssen Prize for 2022.

The American Association of Philosophy Teachers awards the Lenssen Prize for the best essay on the general theme of philosophy teaching that has appeared in the two years prior to the award.  Criteria used for evaluating essays include significance; struggle (e.g., does the paper have contested ideas?); originality; and quality of writing.  The next Lenssen Prize will be awarded in the summer of 2022.

The Committee reviews all articles published in the following:

  • Teaching Philosophy
  • The APA Newsletter on Teaching
  • American Association of Philosophy Teachers Studies in Pedagogy
  • Analytic Teaching and Philosophical Praxis
  • Teaching Ethics

We seek nominations of essays on teaching philosophy that have appeared or will appear in outlets other than those listed above from January 2020 to December 30, 2021. Self-nominations are welcome.

Nominations should include:

  • Author
  • Title
  • Publication title, volume, issue, year
  • A copy of the essay, if possible

Send nominations to Russell Marcus, rmarcus1@hamilton.edu

Deadline: November 19, 2021
