2021 AAPT Conference Cancelled; Summer Programming to be Scheduled

The American Association of Philosophy Teachers (AAPT) Board met late last month and reluctantly came to the conclusion that we need to cancel the biennial in-person AAPT Workshop-Conference at Otterbein University that we had rescheduled for this summer. Between participants’ lack of travel funds and ongoing concerns about when it will be safe to gather together again, it seemed to us the prudent thing to do was to cancel and regroup.

The Program Committee is currently working on alternative arrangements for virtual programming over the summer which will include opportunities for those whose proposals were accepted for 2020, explore innovations in philosophy teaching as we responded to the new environment, and give us all a chance to connect after a challenging year. As soon as we have confirmed our plans, sometime in March, we will be in touch. If you have questions or suggestions, please contact Program Chair, Jane Drexler, jane.drexler@slcc.edu.

We look forward to seeing many of you virtually over the summer. While nothing can replace seeing everyone face to face, we were pleased with the virtual conference we held last summer and hope to create another teaching and learning experience that fits the mission and spirit of the AAPT.
