2018 Award Recipients Announced
The AAPT announced the 2018 award winners at the banquet and Presidential Address.
The Lenssen Prize
The Lenssen Prize is awarded by the AAPT to the best paper concerning teaching and learning in philosophy published in the two years prior to the award.
The 2018 recipients of the Lenssen Prize are:
- ANDREW J. PIERCE,“Interest Convergence: An Alternative to White Privilege Models of AntiRacist Pedagogy and Practice” Teaching Philosophy, 39, no.4 (2016).
- MATT S. WHITT,“Other People’s Problems: Student Distancing, Epistemic Responsibility, and Injustice,”Studies in Philosophy and Education, 35, no. 5 (2016).
Each of these papers is well worth your study.
The AAPT Award of Merit
The also recognizes outstanding leadership and achievements in the teaching of philosophy through its Award of Merit in Outstanding Leadership and Achievements in the Teaching of Philosophy. This year’s recipient is:
- KEVIN HERMBERG, (AAPT Board Member since 2007 and Communications Director/Chair since 2008).
