The Spencer Foundation is accepting applications for its
Philosophy of Education Institute
Summer 2013 (July 8-19)
and two meetings during 2013-14 academic year.

The institute is part of the Spencer Foundation’s Initiative on Philosophy in Educational Policy.

Applicants for the “Spencer Foundation Philosophy of Education Institute” should be graduate students from either schools of education or philosophy departments who are interested in pursuing normative questions of policy and practice in education. A total of fifteen applicants will be selected to participate.

The aim of this new project is to support the cultivation of young scholars with the knowledge and skills for future philosophical engagement with education. To that end, the Institute will be structured in three major components: 1) a ten day intensive summer course at Loyola University’s Water Tower campus in downtown Chicago; 2) the subsequent development of a paper based on the participant’s particular interests in the course material; and 3) two workshops in early 2014 to develop and (potentially) present these papers.

Participants’ expenses will be covered.

Deadline for applications: March 22, 2013
